Roy Keane joked Cristiano Ronaldo’s shocked look in Portugal’s win over Ghana was due to rumors of a move from Newcastle.
The 37-year-old is a free agent who has left the Red Devils by mutual consent with immediate effect following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
There has been much speculation since then as to where his future might lie, with suggestions Newcastel could be a target.
Manchester United legend Keane couldn’t help but joke about the situation.
“Look at Ronaldo’s face, my goodness. Honestly he just had a call that Newcastle are ready for him,” Keane told ITV Sport.
Former substitute Ronaldo responded to a mistake by goalkeeper Diogo Costa that thankfully didn’t result in a Ghana goal.
The goalkeeper put the ball on the field and did not notice that Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams was lurking.
Williams slipped before the ball was stopped on the line by a Portuguese defender.
