Germany are back with a vengeance after being eliminated in the group stage in Russia four years ago. The 2014 world champion has one of the best goalkeepers in the tournament in Manuel Neuer, along with some top attackers like Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané.

Japan comes into play as a potential threat to stir up excitement among the group. After the friendly against the United States in September, the country are looking to get out of the group stage for the third time in four tournaments, having finished 15th in 2018.

This will be the first competitive game between the two countries as they have previously met in four exhibition games.

Spain have an inexperienced group in defence, with Jordi Alba trying to lead the young defence. At the top, the Spaniards will be hoping for Gavi, Pedri and others to cheer on a country looking to reclaim the glory of 12 years ago.

After reaching the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup, Costa Rica showed they have the potential to make their mark on the world stage. Always a competitor in CONCACAF game, they rely on a defender and goalkeeper Keylor Navas to keep their opponents at bay.

Spain and Costa Rica have met in three international friendlies, with their last match being in 2017.

Croatia surprisingly made it to the league game in Russia four years ago and have similar expectations when it comes to Qatar. However, they have struggled in other recent tournaments, only making it to the round of 16 in the last two Euros.

Morocco are forecast to be bottom of Group F but can suffocate their opponents if not taken seriously. They hope to improve their performance at the 2018 World Cup where they only scored two goals.

Although Romelu Lukaku may not be 100% yet, Belgium still have their sights firmly set on reaching the Quarters and beyond. Kevin De Bruyne leads a strong midfield capable of taking the Belgian side deep into the tournament.

Canada’s first World Cup appearance is in 1986, its only attempt at the world’s biggest tournament. They’ll be led by the exciting Alphonso Davies but depth will be an issue in this tough group.

The only time Belgium and Canada met on the pitch was in an international match in 1989.
